Source of Water
Your water comes from two sources: Seattle Public Utility (SPU) provides about 60 percent of our water from the South Fork Tolt River Watershed; the remaining water is sourced from Deer Creek, a spring-fed stream located in the Town of Woodway, which has been used to supply homes in our area since the early part of the 20th century.

Deer Creek source water is blended with SPU source water, thus the water delivered to your home may be either Deer Creek or SPU or a blend of both.

Water Quality
The South Fork Tolt River Watershed is located in a remote, uninhabited area of the Cascade Mountains, safeguarded by a watershed protection plan that prohibits all agricultural, industrial or recreational activities. Before entering the main supply lines, this water passes through facility that filters out debris, and then through an innovative filtration plant that uses ozone to disinfect the water and carbon filters to remove particulate matter. Lastly, water is treated to provide ongoing disinfection, fluoridation, and corrosion control.

Water from Deer Creek is protected and monitored by Olympic View to prohibit all activities that could affect the stream and the safety of your drinking water. Not only is the watershed completely fenced, but a storm drain system also diverts all surface flows away from the watershed. The water travels through a water treatment plant, which was upgraded in 2019, before entering the distribution system.

The District is currently in the process of constructing a new, state of the art water treatment facility on 228th SW with a tentative completion date of February 2026.
Annual Water Quality Reports
Under the Safe Drinking Water Act, all drinking water purveyors are required to send you information about the quality of your drinking water every year. The Washington State Department of Health collects this data and shares it with the EPA, where it's posted to the EPA's website along with a telephone hotline to answer questions about drinking water.

Olympic View's Annual Water Quality / Consumer Confidence Report is posted here every spring of the year following the test results, and can be viewed by clicking on the associated yearly link.

PFAS and Your Water Quality
In January 2022, the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) implemented new standards for public drinking water systems to begin testing for PFAS.

Olympic View’s drinking water remains safe, and we have not detected any PFAS contamination levels beyond trace amounts well below state action levels.
Your Sewer Service
Olympic View Water & Sewer District operates and maintains two sewer lift stations and over 44 miles of sewage pipes that collect and transmit sewage flows to the City of Edmonds for treatment. Our sewer service area encompasses customers in a nearly identical area as our water service, with a small portion of Woodway sewage flowing to King County Metro.

Costs for sewage treatment and disposal, and related facility upgrades and maintenance are levied to the District from the City and County based on the volume of sewage sent to their treatment plants, along with a percentage of the costs for the associated capital improvements.
